Canada: History and Its Influence

Students do research to explore four important events and eras in twentieth-century American history. Then, they create a timeline and summary of these events. Next, they choose the event or era that they believe is most influential. Finally, they create a quiz for classmates on the content learned in the experience.

This learning experience is designed for device-enabled classrooms. The teacher guides the lesson, and students use embedded resources, social media skills, and critical thinking skills to actively participate. In this experience, students explore a historical overview of Canada’s First Nations tribes. Then they learn about the many explorers who traveled to—and settled in—what is now Canada. Finally, students explore other important historical events in Canada’s colonization history, becoming an expert on one in particular.

Long before outsiders made their way into what is now Canada, indigenous, or native, people lived successfully off the land in this great region. In this experience, you will learn more about these original Canadians. You will also take a look at the French and English explorations that brought new peoples to the land.
