For more than three hundred years—from the time of the early European colonies in the Americas through the early nineteenth century—millions of African men, women, and children were snatched from their homes and transported into slavery in the Americas. This transatlantic slave trade was cruel for the slaves. In the Americas, their forced labor created great wealth for plantation owners and European colonizers.

In this experience, you will learn about the rise of the Transatlantic slave trade.
