Main ideas, evidence, informational and argumentative texts, speaking, and writing.

Purpose, voice, figurative language, text features, and the choices authors make.

Read, plan, draft, revise, and present narratives grounded in experience.

How learning experiences work
Self-contained, standards-aligned experiences move through teacher guidance, collaboration, and independent work. Lessons may fit one class period or extend across several days. Reusable fiction and nonfiction book reports support assigned or self-selected reading.

Students work with assigned and self-selected texts, then develop ideas through whole-class and small-group discussion.
Writing ranges from brief text responses and reflection to extended compositions and genre- or craft-based work.
Experiences include concept and craft instruction, writing projects, presentations, and targeted skills practice.
Independent application, discussion, and formative checks make student thinking and progress visible.
