Exploros for Instructional Improvement

22 Feb, 2018

Exploros brings together educational technology and professional services to empower learners and educators through increased engagement and informed instructional practices. Our theory of action is based on the work of social psychologist Lev Vygotsky who identified a connection between social interactions and cognitive development. We posit that by expanding the quantity and quality of peer-to-peer and peer-adult interactions student achievement will improve.

Our theory of change/logic model draws together related and necessary components to support the interactions and provide educators with data on which to reflect and examine their instructional practices.

  1. Curated content aligned to state standards and performance expectations provides guidance through familiar and unfamiliar materials.

  2. Embedding a 5E Model of Instruction scaffolds the experience (engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, and evaluation) and becomes the baseline from which engagement and achievement can be monitored.

  3. Capturing engagement and interactions as they happen on technology-enabled devices (e.g., tablets), promotes interactions from all populations and allows teachers to quickly identify areas for intervention.

  4. Empowering educators with data on which to inform professional conversations (e.g., PLCs) and modify instructional practices.

By expanding and multiplying the number and quality of purposeful interactions in the course of teaching and learning, we 1) increase student engagement, participation, and confidence of self-expression (i.e., voice); 2) enhance understanding of areas of study; 3) demonstrate consistent growth as measured in those areas; 4) and, support the development of learning strategies.
