Passage 1

Lacretia and Hana had vowed to remain best friends forever, but in freshman year of high school, Lacretia had become friendly with Pam, the leader of the popular crowd. That changed the relationship between the two old friends. Where they used to spend almost all their weekends together, now Lacretia often had other things to do on those days.

Passage 2

Lacretia and Hana had vowed to remain best friends forever, but in freshman year of high school, Hana was upset to see that Lacretia became a member of the popular crowd. As Hana looked on helplessly from the sidelines, the relationship between her and her oldest friend became distant and somehow false. They used to spend almost all their weekends together, but now, when Hana texted her, Lacretia often claimed to be “busy” or “all booked up, sorry.”
